The term 'Architectural Plants' covers a wide range of plants. Technically it means the plant is used for its foliage
and structure rather than its ability to impress with flowers and colour.
and structure rather than its ability to impress with flowers and colour. Despite what you may think, most Architectural plants are Winter Hardy in the UK as long as they are planted in the correct location. Ask the experts at Smith's about advice on the right plants for the right places. Olive trees , palms, and larger bamboo are imported from sunny Tuscany in Italy, even the winters can see -5c or lower here. They have an extended growing season and are able to produce larger plants in a shorter period of time thus making them more competitively priced. We have used the same suppliers in Italy for 10years, and frequently visit the Nursery in Tuscany to assess quality and new products.
